Final Destination 5

For THE FINAL DESTINATION, director David R. Ellis didn't live up to the promise he showed after directing FINAL DESTINATION 2 - the film in the series that still has the best opening disaster/premonition in the form of the expertly staged highway sequence. That's not stopping Warner Brothers from continuing the franchise with a part 6 and a part 7 that may shoot back-to-back.

The studio has already greenlit the fifth installment of the series starring Emma Bell (FROZEN). The film also marks horror legend Tony Todd's return to the series after appearing in the first two films. When speaking with Dread Central recently, Todd dropped the news about further sequels:

They expanded my part, and the producer told me as we were leaving Vancouver that if it opens at Number 1 they're going to shoot the next two simultaneously.

Expanding Todd's role should entice horror fans to return to see death set up some fresh kills, and it will definitely up the creep factor for the fifth picture. This franchise is all about the elaborate death's, but instead of inventing a new slasher to enact the violence it's just the will of fate restoring balance to the universe. Will we ever get a DESTINATION movie where death goes after horror icons like Jason, Freddy, or Pinhead? Or at least Victor Crowley? Time will tell...
