After Duncan Jones landed on the scene with his highly acclaimed first feature, MOON, it was safe to say that many fans of the indie sci-fi flick and the director himself were anxiously awaiting to see what he would follow-up with. If you thought MOON jettisoned your brain, wait till you hear about SOURCE CODE.

The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a soldier who finds himself the subject of a government experiment, unbeknownst to his knowledge. The experiment? He is transferred into the body of a train commuter and forced to witness a horrible train bombing, reliving the event over and over in the hopes to discover who is responsible for the act of terrorism. It's like GROUNDHOG DAY meets 12 MONKEYS meets awesome!

The film also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, and Jeffrey Wright. It gets its UK release March 11, 2011. Hmm...if I could predict the future myself, with that release date, I'd say we can probably expect the film to play at SXSW '11 just as MOON did in '09.

Check out the first image from the film after the break, from the most recent issue of Empire Magazine.

With SOURCE CODE being Jones' sophomore effort, I wonder when we can expect MUTE?
