While it may not be much to look at, for a film like John Hillcoat’s long-gestating THE WETTEST COUNTY, any visual proof that the film is indeed happening is more than newsworthy.

Thanks to the awesomely titled fan website Shiantology (hat tip to /Film) we have our first look at star Shia LaBeouf from the set of the film, which is apparently lensing at this point.

Starring LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain,  Gary Oldman, Guy Peace, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke, and Dane DeHaan, the film is based off of the Matt Bondurant novel of the same name. The story follows three brothers who run a bootlegging crew during the days of Prohibition. However, things change when authorities in the county want a piece of the action.

Featuring a script and score from Nick Cave, there is little about this film to not be insanely hyped about, and since its inception, it’s found its fair share of production issues, so seeing that the film is in fact shooting is really great.

I love the period setting that the film has, and it appears as though it’s been sold really well. Again, this is just a set photo, but hey, any proof of this film existing is newsworthy to me.
