First Look at THE LONE RANGER

THE LONG RANGER has been hotly discussed as the next PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN since it was first announced. The comparison is apt given it's from the same team, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, director Gore Verbinski, and Disney studios.  Given the first image from the film that was just released today, it looks like it'll be very much in that vein. See the full image after the break.

Johnny Depp looks fierce as Tonto, a spirit warrior on a personal quest. In the film, he joins forces in a fight for justice with John Reid, played by Armie Hammer, a lawman who has become a masked avenger.

While the story is nothing new, this will definitely be a new take on the tale and it looks to be epic in scope. With Bruckheimer in the mix, you know everything will be big. And Johnny Depp will of course add that absurd, over-the-top charisma that made Captain Jack Sparrow such a memorable character. When previously talking about the project, Verbinksi said “The only version of THE LONE RANGER I’m interested in doing is ‘Don Quixote’ told from Sancho Panza’s point of view.” I for one, am very interested to see that version of the story.

THE LONE RANGER will be released in May 2013.

About Kristal Bailey

Growing up in sunny San Fernando Valley (just 30 minutes from the bright lights of Los Angeles!), Kristal escaped the heat and blazing sun by hiding in movie theaters for days at a time. Well, not literally, but the truth is very close to that. Her love for movies is only eclipsed by her love for television and Harry Potter (see picture). With a soft spot for movies that fall into the “So Bad They’re Good” category, she regularly watches B-movies (THE BLOB), 80s comedies (EARTH GIRLS ARE EASY), and sci-fi from the 50s and 60s (THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL). She also refuses to grow up if that means she has to hide her love for Disney and Pixar films. And yet, her favorite movies of all time don’t fall into any of these categories (FIGHT CLUB, MOULIN ROUGE). Go ahead, ask her why! In her free time, she enjoys reading graphic novels or books that are soon to be turned into movies, watching hours and hours of television, and spending way too much time on Twitter.
