First Look: BRIDESMAIDS

Damn you Entertainment Weekly, always getting the interesting first looks.

Thanks to the outlet (via The Playlist), we have our first, albeit tiny, glimpse at the hotly anticipated film, BRIDESMAIDS.  Featuring an all-star cast including Jon Hamm, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, Dianne Wiest, Matthew Lucas, and Chris O’Dowd just to name a few, the film is being produced by Judd Apatow and helmed by Paul Feig.

BRIDESMAIDS follows Annie, who is asked to be her best friend’s maid of honor, but fails to fit in with the snobby and pretentious bridesmaids that are joining her. Throw in a romance with an awkward policeman, and you have the rather lazy premise for a film whose cast is easily one of the more compelling ones brought together for a Judd Apatow comedy.

Personally, while I’m not quite a big fan of Apatow’s work, even as a producer, the idea that Wiig will finally be getting her own lead role has me more than interested in this damn thing. She’s the sole reason to keep watching things like SNL, and will hopefully be allowed a lot of room here to let her comedic chops shine.
