The folks over at Entertainment Weekly have landed quite a coup - an exclusive first look at Jennifer Lawrence as lead Katniss Everdeen in Gary Ross' THE HUNGER GAMES adaptation. This week's issue has Lawrence on the cover in full Katniss garb, so be ready to see this picture everywhere. But, for now, we get a peek at the cover, Lawrence's look, and some more info about the film.

The special first look issue of EW will feature an interview with Lawrence as she hones her archery skills. Lawrence talks about how much she wanted the role, and how scared she was of it, saying, “I knew that as soon as I said yes, my life would change...And I walked around an entire day thinking ‘It’s not too late, I could still go back and do indies, I haven’t said yes yet, it’s not too late.’" Lawrence also professes to loving the books and feeling as if she would have serious regrets if she had turned the role down. But does that Katniss love translate to a Katniss look? Well, what do you know! This first look shows us that she's a brunette! With a bow and quiver of arrows! And a big, bright pin that means a lot of fans of the series! Rest easy, Mockingjays. Check out the cover, after the break.

Check out the next issue of Entertainment Weekly for more pictures of Lawrence as Katniss, more on their interview, and what sounds like a bit of a field guide to the film's large cast. The issue is on stands on May 20.
