Apparently it’s Jim Carrey’s world this week.

With a hosting gig this past Saturday on SNL, the actor has since gotten his long talked-about take on Ripley’s Believe It Or Not allegedly re-uped, and even got a chance to talk his career on Inside The Actor’s Studio.

Well, now we have our first look at his upcoming summer release, the Mark Waters-directed take on the beloved children’s book, Mr. Popper’s Penguins. And I must say, it doesn’t look awful.

The film, penned by Nicholas Stoller, Sean Anders, and John Morris, stars Carrey, Carla Gugino, Philip Baker Hall, and Clark Gregg, and looks quite compelling. It’s endearing to know that the team behind the film decided to go with living penguins, and while you don’t see a lot of what the film really does within these photos, it does definitely give a lot of weight to this project. Toss in a really fun cast, and you have a family film that may not be wholly unbearable.

Here’s the book’s premise from Amazon:

“The 1938 classic tells the story of Mr. Popper, the small-town housepainter who dreamed of exploring Antarctic regions, and Captain Cook, the redoubtable penguin who turned Mr. Popper’s world upside down.”
