First Look: Johnny Depp and Angelina Jolie in THE TOURIST
Angelina Jolie and Tom Cruise have been letting each other borrow their movies lately. Jolie stars in the upcoming espionage film SALT, which was originally supposed to star Cruise. Cruise was set to star in THE TOURIST opposite Jolie (a role originally offered to Charlize Theron), but dropped out only to be replaced by Sam Worthington...who also dropped out only to be replaced by Johnny Depp. How this relates back to Kevin Bacon, I'm not sure.
Anyway, in case you are confused, THE TOURIST stars Depp and Jolie. The film from Oscar-winning director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck (THE LIVES OF OTHERS) stars Jolie as an Interpol agent chasing a fleeing criminal who crosses paths with Depp's character Frank, an American tourist who has fled to Italy to escape a broken heart. Sounds slightly familiar to the plot of KNIGHT AND DAY starring...Tom Cruise! Who was in 1992'S A FEW GOOD MEN with...Kevin Bacon! Life comes full circle.
I'm interested. Not particularly because of Depp and Jolie - though I do love me some Depp - but because the film was co-written by one the best screenwriters in Hollywood, Christopher McQuarrie (WAY OF THE GUN, USUAL SUSPECTS).
And is it just me or does Mr. Depp look pleasantly plump in that photo?
