First Look: Merida from Pixar’s BRAVE
With CARS 2 not quite being the most hotly anticipated piece of animation this year, and the studio looking to delve into even more sequels with the upcoming MONSTERS ACADEMY, Pixar has released the first look at the lead for their next original outing, the fairy tale BRAVE.
And it’s an absolute wonder.
The film tells the story of Merida, who is pictured here, a young princess who must save her kingdom after plunging it into doom after going against her parents' wishes. The film stars Billy Connelly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters, Kevin McKidd, Craig Ferguson, and Robbie Coltrane, and has become something of a lightning rod after having director Brenda Chapman replaced by Mark Andrews (both will, for the sake of full disclosure, be listed as co-directors).
BRAVE looks to be one hell of a great feature from one of film’s best studios, animation or not, something that really shows that while they are pumping out sequel after sequel, Pixar still has stuff left in the tank. I love the look and feel of the film, so this is definitely one that really can’t get here fast enough.
