Talk about starting off the week in a huge way.

Thanks to Empire, we have the first look at the upcoming collaboration between Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson entitled THE ADVENTURES OF TINTIN: THE SECRET OF THE UNICORN, the motion-captured take on the beloved comic book series, The Adventures Of Tintin.

There are a total of three new images available on Empire’s website as of today, including the cover of the upcoming issue, and I have to say I do really dig the images so far.

As far as the plot goes, the film follows Tintin (played in the film by Jamie Bell) who, along with his dog and right hand man Captain Haddock (played by Andy Serkis), go on the hunt for a treasure stolen by the evil Red Rackham. The cast features the aforementioned actors, along with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (perfectly cast as two dimwitted policemen, Thompson and Thompson), Daniel Craig as Rackham, and Toby Jones, Mackenzie Crook, Tony Curran, Daniel Mays, Sebastian Roche, and Gad Elmaleh.

The film is set to hit theaters stateside on December 28, 2011, with a foreign release coming two months prior, but with Spielberg’s WAR HORSE hitting theaters a few days earlier, don’t be shocked if we get to see the film much sooner than previously thought. Also, don’t be shocked to see a trailer before ringing in 2011.

Personally, I do really dig these images. I love the look and feel of the photos because, while they look rather lifelike, there is a distinct sense of style to them that makes the film seem truly original. I grew up as a huge fan of the character, particularly after watching the cartoon series, so hopefully this one can live up to the hype.
