First Look: Wim Wenders’ 3D dance film, PINA
Talk about bringing it full circle.
The first story I ever typed for Gordon And The Whale involved a new project being announced for one Wim Wenders, and thanks to a Neue Road Movies (via The Playlist), we now have our first look at his next film, the long-gestating 3D dance film,PINA.
Best described as the auteur’s love letter to the famous choreographer Pina Bausch that, after her unfortunate death last year, seemed to come to a complete halt. Well, now we have a good look at what the film will look like, and I must say, this thing looks amazing. Find out why, after the jump.
STEP UP 3D this film is not, and personally, if this film is the stage version of a film that it looks to be, I can’t wait to check this thing out. Films like Guy Maddin’s PAGES FROM A VIRGIN’S DIARY have proven that staged dance performance films can be far more than that, so hopefully this film will follow suit.
Honestly, the idea of a dance film in 3D from the mind of Wim Wenders alone has me interested, but these really gorgeous photos has me thinking that this is going to be one hell of a film and a worthwhile addition to the gimmick heavy world of 3D.
