Based on Kathryn Stockett’s acclaimed bestseller of the same name, THE HELP touches upon civil rights issues in Mississippi during the 1960s as a college grad named Skeeter (Emma Stone) attempts to make a difference. In addition to the extraordinarily talented Stone, the exceptional cast also includes dynamite actresses Bryce Dallas Howard, Viola Davis, Allison Janney, and Octavia Spencer. The first official clip from the film can be seen after the cut courtesy of MTV.

Here we see Janney and Stone having a bit of a quibble while changing clothes. We don’t discover much in regards to the actual plot of the film, but Janney’s disappointment in Stone getting a job instead of finding a man to marry reminds us of the social landscape of the setting's time period. What’s more, the rapport between the two actresses definitely promises for some terrific performances.

We can expect this terrific cast to beautifully bring this gripping story to life when it arrives at U.S. cinemas on August 12.

The setting for the story is Mississippi, not Alabama.
