First trailer for HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART I
While it's obvious to many that the MTV Movie Awards, to put it plainly, suck, this proves that they're still good for something. Tonight, along with a pretty bitchin' SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD clip, we got our first look at HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART I. Shamefully, I have yet to devour the books like so many flocks of tweens and teens have before me, but after talking to a few hardcore Harry Potter fans, I have it on good authority that this is hitting the nail right on the head.
For those of you, like me, who are lost a bit lost, here's a quick synopsis, via the film's IMDb page, followed by the clip via Firstshowing:
"Voldemort's power is growing stronger. He now has control over the Ministry of Magic and Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione decide to finish Dumbledore's work and find the rest of the Horcruxes to defeat the Dark Lord. But little hope remains for them, so everything they do must go as planned."
Just from overhearing squeaky shrieks of joy over the last book, I've developed a small understanding of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I won't divulge for the two or three of you who are still spoil free, but I can say that a fairly common complaint for the last book was that the Deathly Hallows felt fairly derived and rushed. Many have pointed out the opportunities that director David Yates has had to hint at their existence to solve said problem, but for one reason or another, they remained unmentioned. Hopefully, they'll feel a little less rushed in the film. As always only time will tell.
HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART I hits theaters November 19 and PART II follows that July. See you there.
