If you’re not going to make a film for over a decade, why not come back with a humorous take on mass murder, starring Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis, and Isla Fisher? That appears to be the thought process director John Landis took when it comes to the upcoming BURKE & HARE. Pegg and Serkis star as real Irish murderers,William Burke and William Hare, “who killed at least 17 people in Edinburgh in 1827-8.” Sounds fun, right?

This first trailer for BURKE & HARE focuses more on the leads’ entrepreneurial efforts, as they kill people off to sell their bodies to science. It’s a feel-good flick, surely. It’s unfortunate that the whole thing feels so, well, dead, like a poor man’s version of SHERLOCK HOLMES, minus the innovation and spirit. Here’s to hoping this is just a bad trailer and that the end result has a bit more life to it. Check out the first trailer for BURKE & HARE after the break!

BURKE & HARE has an October 29 release date in the UK, with no word on when it will hit the States.
