First trailer for FRIGHT NIGHT arrives
Despite being yet another horror film that seems just sort of unnecessary, the Craig Gillepsie-directed FRIGHT NIGHT remake does have a remarkably good pedigree to give me some hope. Gillespie directed one of my favorite films of the past few years, the lovely LARS AND THE REAL GIRL, and this film stars Anton Yelchin, Colin Farrell, and Christopher Mintz-Plasse - all very different, but very interesting, talents. The co-starring cast is rounded out by Toni Collette, David Tennant, Imogen Poots, and Dave Franco. So, with all that said, what the heck is this film going to be like?
With the release of the film's first trailer, we get more of an idea of that. The "edgy update" moves the action to Las Vegas (as a former Vegas resident, I do have to say, the faux suburbs of Vegas are an under-mined pick for terror), and sees Farrell's Jerry Dandridge as some sort of Criss Angel-lite. So why does this film look just like DISTURBIA, with a tiny splash of vamp blood and more fire? Check out the first trailer after the break and let me know what you think of it.
FRIGHT NIGHT opens on August 19.
