"I'm on a boat!" Ok, so Narnia probably doesn't get SNL on cable, but Aslan and company are in fact on a boat called the Dawn Treader in the third installment of the Chronicles of Narnia based on the novels of CS Lewis.

THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER stars Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, Will Poulter, Gary Sweet, Bruce Spence, Arthur Angel, Shane Rangi and Liam Neeson as a talking lion.

The first trailer for the new film has been unleashed and you can journey to it after the break!

All the kids from the first film return in this latest installment, as well as Prince Caspian and that cute yet menacing warrior mouse Reepicheep! On the way to the Lone Islands, those on board the Dawn Treader will face magical Dufflepuds (no idea what those are), menacing slave traders (never a good thing historically), roaring dragons (fire!), and delightful merfolk (a new kind of folk music perhaps?).

All kidding aside, if this trailer is indicative of what the rest of the marketing campaign for DAWN TREADER will look like, there is cause for concern. There's no clear story here and the journey doesn't seem to have any real purpose. Are they just learning how to sail?

Fox was smart enough to move the release date back to Christmas, after PRINCE CASPIAN failed to muster up any real excitement during the 2008 summer season. The success of the first film proved that you could launch a successful fantasy franchise during the holiday season that didn't have the title LORD OF THE RINGS in front of it. It's a move that could help save the series and ensure that The Silver Chair (the most popular of the series) makes it to the silver screen.

At least the promise of more Narnia inspired SNL shorts is kept alive with the release of DAWN TREADER. Check out Chronicles of Narnia (Lazy Sunday) and I'm On a Boat below for old times sake...

Writers note: “(a new kind of folk music perhaps?)” Originally, “folk” was “filk” which is sci-fi/fantasy folk. It wasn't a typo but the editor assumed it was. What I am saying is, I am much nerdier than the editors! This is proof! Haha…
