First trailer for WELCOME TO THE RILEYS
I think I stand in the minority (a growing minority, but a minority still), when I say that I actually think Kristen Stewart is a good actress. Having said that, the roles she's been given lately haven't give her much of a chance to work outside of her normal constraints. We got a glimpse of her talent in Greg Mottola's ADVENTURELAND, and even a little in the newest installment of the TWILIGHT saga, but here, in the premiere trailer for her Sundance film, WELCOME TO THE RILEYS, we see much more.

Immediately, I was worried they were going to try telling me that James Gandolfini has a ridiculous affair with stripper Stewart, but (thankfully) that is not the case. Gandolfini plays Doug Riley, who has just lost his daughter to a car crash. The devastation is beginning to affect his marriage when he leaves for New Orleans for a work conference. While there, he meets a young girl named Mallory (Stewart). The two bond and Riley begins to see her as a daughter.
I'm not sure. While I can't remember any movies about a grief-wracked man taking a young stripper under his wing and fathering her, it feels like I have. This isn't to say that it doesn't look good, but I am feeling major hesitation. The majority of director Jake Scott's experience has been with music videos (great bands, too - U2, The Cranberries, R.E.M, Smashing Pumpkins). This will mark his second feature film, including a period piece called PLUNKETT & MACLEANE.
