People just don't talk about FLETCH enough anymore, even though it was very popular at the time of release and went on to become a cult classic. It kind of makes sense though, as you can look at all the other amazing films its star, Chevy Chase, was a part of in the eighties. Need I say more than SPIES LIKE US?

The FLETCH reboot has been off and on for years now, but finally this incarnation has gotten its writer.

David Mandel, who most recently co-wrote the upcoming Sascha Baron Cohen film THE DICTATOR, has been hired to give FLETCH his next shot. The film is said to be a reimagining of the series and its title character, hoping to broaden the scope of the series a bit. The studio is very serious about getting this film made, and expect to tie it all up with an A-list comedy star.

FLETCH is the perfect kind of series to reboot, as there are many different ways it could be made to make it really special. That's the amazing part about comedic action movies, if the right team is in place, it is very likely to be good. Mandel seems like a good fit, coming off THE DICTATOR he could really do something wonderful with this film.
