Planet of the Apes

20th Century Fox has plans to make a PLANET OF THE APES prequel, and it has picked Rupert Wyatt "to develop to direct" the project. Is "develop to direct" like getting engaged to get engaged? In that case I totally get your sound reason 20th Century Fox (and I hope everyone does as well): take your time, have plans, but also let things come together naturally over time. However, this probably means more along the lines that Wyatt will be a major voice with developing this prequel as a story and scope is hammered out for the project and other details are put together.

Wyatt co-wrote and directed THE ESCAPIST, a prison break movie starring Brian Cox, and from what I have heard is pretty good. I wish there were more details to report on this project, but the article on Deadline Hollywood pretty much just announced Wyatt's involvement, and that the project does not have a start date.
