Fox interested in Amber Heard as a young Mystique in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

Last week, the latest X-MEN: FIRST CLASS rumor was that actress Rosamund Pike (AN EDUCATION) was potentially up for the role of the icy cold hottie Emma Frost. Before that, it was that actor Michael Fassbender (INGLORIOUS BASTERDS) was possibly in talks to play a young Professor X Magneto. Seeing as how we've all become accustomed to these frequent rumors surrounding Matthew Vaughn's take on Marvel's series - which takes our favorite mutants back to school - I find it all too appropriate to start out the week on this fine Monday with a few new ones.

According to Thursday's issue of Production Weekly (via The Playlist), Rosamund Pike is rumored for a role in the film...but not as Mystique. According to the trade, Pike is being looked at for Moira MacTaggert, known to comic book fans as Professor X's assistant.

PW is also reporting that Fox has a "strong interest" in Amber Heard for the blue beauty Mystique. Judging by Heard's on-screen time with her clothes off in THE INFORMERS, something tells me the actress would not have a problem with wearing...or should I say not wearing the "suit" once famously filled in by Rebecca Romijn.

All joking aside, Heard seems like a good fit for the role of a young Mystique with Pike seeming better placed as Emma Frost over Moira MacTaggert. But, seeing as how these are nothing more than rumors at this time, you can't really get your heart set on anything.

Going back to last week's rumor involving Fassbender, PW also mentions that the actor has no intention of testing for the role of Magneto. If you recall, there were also rumors linking the actor to a potential role in another Marvel property, the SPIDER-MAN reboot. Coincidentally, both X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and SPIDER-MAN have seemed to have also caught Aaron Johnson (KICK-ASS) in their rumor web as of lately.
