Gary Oldman and Julie Christie join THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD?
What do you get when combine a classic children's fairy tale, gothic horror, Gary Oldman and Julie Christie? Truthfully, I'm not sure. But for the sake of the joke let's hope it's something really cool. According to Heat Vision Gary Oldman and Julie Christie are now in talks to join the gothic horror re-imagining of Red Riding Hood called THE GIRL WITH THE RED RIDING HOOD.
Directed by Catherine Hardwicke, the story follows the girl with the red riding hood (Amanda Seyfried) and the terrible events that take place in her medieval village. (Why do such bad things happen in medieval villages?) Her village is being terrorized by a werewolf. Starring alongside Seyfried is Shiloh Fernandez, who grabbed the "orphaned woodcutter" role earlier this week. I smell a romance a-brewin!
Christie is playing Granny, whose favorite past time is knitting with her favorite silver knitting sticks. Also cast is Gary Oldman who will be playing "Father Soloman," head witch hunter and general village ass kicker. While fairy tales may not be the most interesting and original idea, if nothing else, seeing Gary Oldman fight werewolves promises to be mildly entertaining.
