Gary Oldman joins Tomas Alfredson’s next; Colin Firth, David Thewlis, and Michael Fassbender looking to join
Finally, it looks like we may have Tomas Alfredson’s next film.
To follow up LET THE RIGHT ONE IN, it appeared that the filmmaker was set to jump into the Nicole Kidman-starring gender bender known as THE DANISH GIRL, but after dropping out of that film, he has stayed rather mum as to what will be next.
Now, according to Production Weekly, he is set to kick off production on his long-talked-about adaptation of the John Le Carre novel, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy. Also, according to The Daily Mail (via The Playlist), the film is set to star Gary Oldman, with actors Colin Firth, Michael Fassbender, and David Thewlis looking to hop aboard as well.
Wow, just wow. I don’t think you can get a better cast. I was already excited to see what Alfredson had in store for us after RIGHT ONE, but now this is easily one of my most anticipated projects currently looking to go forward. That cast is utterly fantastic, and may be one of the better headlining groups I’ve seen put together.
Firth seems to be acting like his life depends on it as of late, particularly in the brilliant film, A SINGLE MAN, and of course, you cannot go wrong with Fassbender, who has been on a roll as of late, rarely seen in film. The story follows a British operative who must root out a Soviet spy in the British Intelligence Services. I can’t wait to see this thing. Fingers are definitely crossed in hopes of having this cast come together.
