Believe it or not, the footage you're about to see is possibly the finest piece of video game based footage, next to the recently released STREET FIGHTER LEGACY.  But if you've ever spent your fair amount of time debating with friends over which is better, Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter, this footage may just extend the debate.  This nearly 8 minute clip which is being called MORTAL KOMBAT: REBIRTH which is no understatement, as it really captures how dark and just downright cool the games always were in a way the original MORTAL KOMBAT movie just couldn't.  Not only that, but this time you have some incredible casting, with Michael Jai White (BLACK DYNAMITE) and Jeri Ryan both appearing in this teaser in what most fans would consider to be significant roles.

According to Ryan's twitter, these 8 minutes are director Kevin Tancharoen's pitch to WB on his vision.

"It's not a game trailer. Actually was made for the director to sell WB on his vision for a reimagined MK film...I did it as a favor to a friend. No idea yet what WB's reaction to it was."

So while this footage may be awesome, incredible, and everything you ever hoped for in a MK movie, it's still up to WB, who had batted around the idea of "re-birthing" the franchise previous, with IMDb listing a planned MORTAL KOMBAT: DEVASTATION for sometime in 2013.  No word yet on whether or not this could replace any previous plans, but with the way this footage looks, it should not only replace those plans, it should moved to the top of WB's list.
