Girls in Wonderland

Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND is continuing to pick up steam and actors, this time in the form of the two lovely ladies Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway. The two actresses have been picked to play two queens from Wonderland. Hathaway will take on the roll of the White Queen and Carter (Tim Burton's wife) will play the Red Queen. If those characters don't sound familiar, that's because they weren't a part of the Disney animated film, though they were part of Lewis Carroll's books and have appeared in other adaptions of the Alice story.

Despite not being familiar with those character, I think the casting choice says plenty. Anne Hathaway's White Queen will probably be sweet, while Helena Bonham's Red Queen will probably be a bit more sinister. I can't wait! Things are really starting to pick up, so lets have a quick run through of the casting:

1. Mia Wasikowska as Alice
2. Johnny Depp as Mad Hatter
3. Matt Lucas as Tweedledee & Tweedledum
4. Michael Sheen (No details yet, but my money is on the White Rabbit)
5. Helena Bonham Carter and Anne Hathaway as the Red and White Queens

Looks like a good list! What do you think?

So the Red Queen is different than the Queen of Hearts in the animated movie?

  • Wilhem Oliva

Ok, i had to do a little research to refresh my mind, but yes, they are not the same character. The Queen of Hearts is from Lewis Caroll’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.” The White and Red Queens are from the sequel he wrote called “Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There.” Confusing, I know.

Ah! Fantastic. I was wondering if he was going to use “Through the Looking-Glass” in this film. Thank you ;o)
