“Glee” creator Ryan Murphy won’t direct the ANNIE remake

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has been strong-arming bands like the Foo Fighters, Slash, and Kings of Leon as of late, receiving bad press for bashing groups who refuse to lend out their music to the popular singing TV show.

Murphy has already harmed his reputation somewhat, which may have had something to do with his decision to bow out of directing the upcoming (potentially lambasted) remake of the classic musical ANNIE. Whatever the case, Jay-Z, Will Smith, and Jada-Pinkett Smith will have to look elsewhere for someone to helm the remake, which will star the Smiths' already-successful daughter Willow Smith in the lead role.

With the huge box office run of THE KARATE KID reboot that starred young Jaden Smith, this film and other remakes like it will continue to get the greenlight as long as Smith & Co. - a now proven formula for success - stay behind these projects in an ongoing attempt to make their kids more famous than they are.
