Greta Gerwig joins the cast of ARTHUR reboot
I love Greta Gerwig. She talks like a stoner and grins like a jackal. And now she's a huge movie star...well, almost. After her breakout role in GREENBERG, Gerwig is now on board to play Arthur's love interest in the upcoming ARTHUR reboot, a role made famous by the ultra-fabulous Liza Minelli in the original starring Dudley Moore.
The film is being directed by Jason Winer, the director and co-creator of the excellent ABC sitcom Modern Family, and is based on a script by writer Peter Baynham. Gerwig will play the rapier-witted shoplifter that intrigues Arthur (Russell Brand), as he sees in her someone that can go toe-to-toe with him in the funny department. Arthur really just wants a playmate, and is willing to give up everything in order to be with Gerwig. Can you blame him?
With the cast shaping up rather nicely, expect ARTHUR to start shooting this summer. Hopefully, the reboot will prove successful for two reasons: yacht rock is making a comeback and a remake of the sequel ARTHUR 2: ON THE ROCKS would be an absolute delight to revisit.
Call me, Greta!
