Despite chatter of being behind a cavalcade of projects ranging from a King Arthur project to a possible (if the second film does well) third SHERLOCK HOLMES, it looks like director Guy Ritchie may be doing something quite different instead.

Twitch is reporting that Ritchie is currently overseeing new drafts of the script for SGT. ROCK, and will be helming the project for WB. The last we heard of the film, it was in the hands of Francis Lawrence, but now it looks as though the film has reverted back to Ritchie.

The film will see the titular character taking on Nazis during WWII, and sounds like a project Ritchie was born to make. Ritchie is a really solid action director, and given the source material, this could be the type of brutal actioner that he is perfect for. It’s not quite as excited as the oft-rumored Lobo film Ritchie was attached to, but it’s still very much a compelling project. Here’s to hoping we hear more about this soon.
