Hank Azaria takes Gargamel to the streets of New York
Production has been underway for just over a month on THE SMURFS, and now we’re getting our first look at Hank Azaria in his full Gargamel garb. The get-up is spot on, and with Azaria, there’s really no concern for whether or not he can pull off the part.
The only real concern is whether director Raja Gosnell can put together a better movie than SCOOBY-DOO, or BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAHUA, or SCOOBY-DOO 2…it’s bad when the hope you hang on to is that this guy did also direct BIG MOMMA’S HOUSE.
Official Synopsis for the film:
When the evil wizard Gargamel chases the tiny blue Smurfs out of their village, they tumble from their magical world and into ours – in fact, smack dab in the middle of Central Park. Just three apples high and stuck in the Big Apple, the Smurfs must find a way to get back to their village before Gargamel tracks them down.
The film is set for release August 3, 2011.
