HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS gets a release date
With the cast slowly starting to build, Paramount Pictures’ upcoming film, HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, has just nabbed itself a release date.
Deadlinehas revealed that the film, starring Gemma Arterton and Jeremy Renner, will be hitting theaters on March 2, 2012.
The film co-stars Famke Janssen, and follows the pair of siblings as adults becoming witch hunters after they survive their classic gingerbread house tale. Arterton and Renner will play the titular leads, with Janssen aboard as the leader of the witches. DEAD SNOW director Tommy Wirkola will be directing.
Personally, I really love this film’s premise, and the cast is impeccable. Both Arterton and Renner have proven to be really talented thespians, and ones that are able to hold their own in bigger projects. Toss in writer D.W. Harper, best known for his take on the upcoming film, ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, and you have a film that could ultimately prove to be a really interesting revisionist tale.
