Harvey Weinstein still wants to make a ROUNDERS sequel

Following the film’s release in 1998, ROUNDERS has become something of a cult hit. Arguably the greatest film about poker you’ll find, talk about a sequel to the film has been around since the film first bowed in theaters. However, over a decade later, and we still don’t have it.

That said, it’s still very much on the minds of those in the know, particularly Harvey Weinstein.

Variety is reporting that Weinstein stated that due to the film’s success on DVD and TV, ROUNDERS is a world that he’d “like to revisit.” However, with the cast of Matt Damon and Edward Norton having their schedules full, with the same going for writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien, this is still very much off.

Personally, while I don’t think ROUNDERS is anywhere near a masterpiece, the world of competitive poker is truly one that could make for a great cinematic universe, if done correctly. ROUNDERS is a really fun flick, and one that could ultimately be solid fodder for a sequel, but until that day, this is still very much wishful thinking.
