HELLRAISER hasn’t really been a memorable series for a very long while, but that isn’t to say it couldn’t return to its dark, horrifying roots. That was many people’s hopes with the impending remake, but in classic horror film fashion, that has been fully squandered.

The Weinsteins have every intention of turning the film into a PG-13 franchise.

Of course the film being PG-13 doesn’t guarantee that the film wouldn’t be good, but any rating other than R just doesn’t fit the series. HELLRAISER is the perfect franchise to take in the overly graphic and gruesome sort of way.

In other HELLRAISER news, director Christian E. Christiansen is currently in talks to direct the teen film for the second time. Previously he was wanted for the job, and the plans fell through. The Weinsteins believe he is the right guy to bring the franchise back from the dead.

Additionally, the gorgeous Amber Heard is rumored to be the frontrunner for the lead role in the film. Heard has both the beauty and acting skill, so she seems like a really great fit for the film. The only sad part is that she is the most exciting prospect of the film.

I hope they prove the world wrong, we’ll see. How do you guys feel about the film being PG-13?
