HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN scores distribution through Alliance Films prior to Sundance debut
Yesterday we posted the ridiculously cool poster and awesomely violent trailer for HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, but didn't know when or if it would show up in theaters in the U.S. Well, it looks like HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN has already landed a distribution deal, before it's even premiered at Sundance.
Alliance Films partnered with Rhombus Media to produce the film, and is now set to have Magnolia Pictures release the flick in the United States. Sundance officially starts tomorrow, but Alliance Films has made some pre-emptive dealings, including acquiring other films like THE SON OF NO ONE, THE TROLL HUNTER, THE GUARD, and FLYPAPER.
For more on Alliance Film's Sundance deals, keep reading after the break.
Alliance Films and Rhombus Media have partnered on films previously, on titles including THE RED VIOLIN, BLINDNESS, and now HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, which will make its debut at Sundance as part of the Midnight at Park City. Following in the path of MACHETE, it started as a trailer connected to the Quentin Tarantino/Robert Rodriquez double feature GRINDHOUSE. While distribution is now secured, no dates have been mentioned yet. We'll be sure to update the site as soon as a date is set.
Alliance Films also had this to say about their other deals:
"Alliance Films has made a number of acquisitions in advance of Sundance on titles such as: Dito Montiel’s feature THE SON OF NO ONE, starring Channing Tatum and Al Pacino for Canada and Spain (Aurum); THE TROLL HUNTER from director Andre Oderval for Canada and the UK (Momentum Pictures); THE GUARD which stars Brendan Gleason and Don Cheadle for Canada; and from the writers of THE HANGOVER, Jon Lucas and Scott Moore’s FLYPAPER, directed by Rob Minkoff starring Patrick Dempsey and Ashley Judd for Spain (Aurum).
Current and upcoming films where Alliance Films has an equity position or otherwise enabled projects to be financed include: THE KING'S SPEECH, SAFE, AREA 51, GOON, WEEKENDER, and THE BAY."
It looks like Alliance Films has a great slate of films ahead of them. In addition to my unyielding excitement for HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN, I'm already looking forward to AREA 51 and GOON.
