Hold your horses, Chris Evans a possibility for CAPTAIN AMERICA
And the plot thickens.
Just a couple of hours after news hit that John Krasinski ("The Office") was the front runner for the upcoming adaptation of CAPTAIN AMERICA (and the subsequent firestorm on the internet), it looks like Marvel has widened their gaze for possible contenders to hop into the red, white, and blue costume.
According to Deadline Hollywood, Marvel has not only said that two original names are still in the running (Mike Vogel and Garrett Hedlund) and have even added a name, and boy, is it an interesting one.
The site is reporting that Chris Evans, best known as Johnny Storm a.k.a. The Human Torch in the FANTASTIC FOUR films, is in the running. Apparently, the other names attached to the project are now out of contention (including Krasinski), leaving this as a three horse race. The role would include a salary of $300,000 and would include options for up to nine other possible films.
The idea of Chris Evans taking up the star covered shield has me insanely interested. I think Evans is by far the best thespian of the bunch, and is also probably the best fit physically. He is a much bigger guy, and not only that, but has the sense of confidence that this role would require. He may come off a bit too arrogant, but really, this makes the Krasinski casting look like a joke. Of the other names, I think that Hedlund would be another really great fit.
As of this point, it appears as though no one is as close as they seem to getting the role, and with the added name of Chris Evans, this is set to be one heck of an interesting story.
Who, of this group, would you like to see get the role?
