kristen stewart's passion project k-11 to shoot this summer

Hossein Amini has made one hell of a name for himself. With the Nicolas Winding Refn actioner DRIVE blazing up the screen at this year’s Cannes Film Festival (both Chase and I were fans of that rather superb film), writer Amini has become quite a hot commodity as of late. Scripting projects like the currently shooting 47 RONIN and a rewrite on the upcoming Jack Ryan film, he’s just got himself a brand new gig.

Deadline is reporting that Amini will be doing rewrites on the upcoming film, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN.

The film, currently set up over at Universal, is one of two major Snow White projects, and will be released on June 1, 2012, just a couple months after Relativity releases their take, THE BROTHERS GRIMM: SNOW WHITE, from director Tarsem. With a cast including Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, and Chris Hemsworth, the film will follow the story of Snow White, who must join The Hunstman to take out those looking to off the iconic character.

Personally, I am shockingly excited for this project. I think the cast is intriguing and it is definitely interesting to see Universal taking their time with this project, while Relativity is going full steam ahead, for better or for worse. Overall, Amini’s take on this film could be something really special. Here’s to hoping.
