Hugh Jackman joins SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN
Leave it to Hugh to be fashionably late. The Aussie actor has been added to the drama SNOW FLOWER AND THE SECRET FAN as it headed into its first day of production. Jackman will begin his portion on the film towards the end of February. While it is said that he will play the role of the lead male, his publicist stated "at this point in time, he is doing an unbilled cameo."
Interestingly enough, Jackman walks in passing Zhang Ziyi on the way out, as she departed from the production due to scheduling conflicts. She will be replaced by Chinese actress Li Bingbing (THE MESSAGE). Jeon Ji-Hyun (BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE) will also star.
The film, directed by Wayne Wang (MAID IN MANHATTAN), centers around two lifelong friends, Lily and Snowflower, and "their imprisonment by rigid cultural norms" as they live in 19th century China.
