Hugh Jackman might lead Tom Hooper's LES MISERABLES

For everyone out there who’s wanted Hugh Jackman to grace a musical on the silver screen, you might be in luck. Deadline Hollywood reports that Universal is seeking Jackman to star in LES MISERABLES, Tom Hooper's adaptation of the iconic stage musical, as Jean Valjean.

For those unfamiliar with the story, Valjean is an ex-con who evades policeman Javert; it's a tenor role, which fits in with Jackman's vocal range. Official talks, negotiations, or offers haven't taken place just yet, but if Jackman does hop on board, he'll be the first person officially attached to this adaptation.

Jackman is not only a terrific actor, he’s also a great showman and can command an audience, which is perfect for a big musical spectacle like LES MISERABLES. His singing voice, which helped him nab a Tony Award for Actor in a Musical, isn’t too shabby either.

How do you feel about Hugh Jackman potentially starring in LES MISERABLES?
