Ian McShane takes on the role of lead dwarf for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN
Led by names like Chris Hemsworth and Kristen Stewart, the upcoming Universal-backed project SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN features quite a cast of young A-list talent. However, the film just found one hell of a seasoned veteran to join the young ranks.
THR is reporting that Ian McShane has joined the film’s cast, which is rounded out by Charlize Theron and Sam Clafin, and will take on the role of one of the film’s dwarf characters. He’ll star as Caesar, the leader of the group of dwarves, who will help Snow White, along with The Huntsman, take out the evil stepmother who herself wants to off Snow White.
The film is being re-written by DRIVE scribe Hossein Amini, and is set for a release on June 1, 2012, which will follow Relativity’s Tarsem-directed SNOW WHITE which hits on March 16 of next year.
Personally, I think this is amazing news. McShane is one of the best actors we have today, and should fit perfectly in this film. Toss in the fact that you have a studio, Universal, who really seems to be giving the film the time it needs, and this is the makings of one hell of a film.
