If Javier Bardem wants the role, he’ll be Bond’s villain in BOND 23
File this one under interesting, but not quite that shocking.
Over this past weekend, which itself saw quite a bit of interesting news break, it was revealed that Javier Bardem was offered a role in the upcoming 23rd film in the James Bond franchise, currently titled BOND 23.
Well, the actor recently spoke with the LA Times, and revealed that yes, he has taken a meeting on the hotly talked-about project, and not only liked what was discussed, but stated the obvious, in that he’d “be playing Bond’s nemesis, yes, but it’s not that obvious. Everything is more nuanced. It’s very intriguing.”
Apparently, the franchise is really close to the heart of the actor, discussing how he and his father used to go see “Mr. Connery” take on the role, so don’t be shocked if we hear his confirmation quite soon.
Personally, I love the idea of him taking on a less cartoonish villain than in previous films, as he’s not only a really gifted actor, but has this great brooding sense of style to him, that could make it really work well. Toss in Sam Mendes as a director, and this should be one hell of an addition to the Bond franchise.
