UPDATE: Added the Scarlett Johansson/Black Widow character poster found via Slash Film

Believe it or not, IRON MAN 2 is just a little over a month away, so it’s about time we get an official domestic poster. We posted the international poster last week and our writer James asked the question, “who farted?” It was a joke, referring to some awkward positioning on the poster, but I’m gonna go ahead and ask the same question of this one. Not because it’s funny, but because it stinks. Read on to see why.

Alright, look at the poster above. Now go back and look at the international poster. What’s missing? That’s right, Mickey Rourke is nowhere to be found! From the trailer, I was under the impression that Whiplash was a pretty big part of the movie, yet they leave him out for no apparent reason.

International posters have a history of being slightly cooler than ours, but you’d think the guy photoshopping the domestic one together could’ve found a more clever way of making it look different from the international one. Leaving out a major character doesn’t seem like the best way to do that.

Perhaps Mickey Rourke tested poorly in front of focus groups. I'd prefer him, as well, because that seems to be part of the darker direction this time. But hey, I'm sure we'll get a few more cool posters once Jon Favreau realizes this one is lacking. ;)

Also, I'm interested by the falling (or descending) of Iron Man in the center added into this version. I feel like it may be referring a bit to Iron Man's descension in this one from new hero to possible fallen hero. Though maybe that's giving the different direction too much credit. Still, simply a thought.
