Is this a late April Fool’s joke? Davis Guggenheim to helm Justin Bieber biopic starring Justin Bieber!?
In what could be the oddest pseudo biopic since 1991's COOL AS ICE, Deadline is reporting that Paramount has plans to turn juggernaut pop star Justin Bieber's life story into a 3D feature film...all 16 years of it. With documentarian Davis Guggenheim (IT MIGHT GET LOUD, AN INCONVENIENT TRUTH) behind the lens? Apparently so, as the Oscar-winning director is currently in talks to helm the film, said to feature performances from Bieber's current tour with a planned release for Valentine's weekend of next year. Bieber will, in fact, play himself. I guess Ellen Page was unavailable.
Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, Jim Morrison. Music artists that had to pass through the ring of fire and break on through to the other side to be worthy of their own biopics. Surviving - and in some cases not - the trials and tribulations of fame with sordid tales sex, drugs, and rock'n'roll. But not Bieber...he earned his by YouTube and Twitter hits. There's hope for you yet, "Hey Jude" singing Asian baby!
So, let the title game begin! What should the film be called? FEVER: THE JUSTIN BIEBER STORY? 3 TEENAGE GROUPIES AND A D? IT MIGHT NOT GET THAT LOUD? MY WORLD DOESN'T DESERVE THIS MOVIE 2.0?
