Forces Of Geek is reporting that they have uncovered the identity of Kevin Bacon's role in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. No, it's not a Hollow Man cross-over. I know, I cried invisible tears too.

According to one of their "FOG! Agents from across the pond" Bacon will play a mutant named Sebastian Shaw. No, not the guy we know as Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker from RETURN OF THE JEDI in the suit. Instead, he's the leader of an evil mutant syndicate known as the the Hellfire Club. Wikipedia describes the character as this:

A mutant, Shaw possesses the ability to absorb kinetic energy and transform it into raw strength. He is the leader of the New York branch of the Hellfire Club, an exclusive secret society bent on world domination, although to the public, he is a legitimate businessman and ordinary human. He once funded the mutant-hunting Sentinel program to keep it under his thumb.

While FOG has been wrong before about FIRST CLASS (most recently with that whole Rosamund Pike/Emma Frost business), this is one rumor that could prove to be true. Shaw, or the Black King as he is known in Hellfire, runs the club with the White Queen aka Emma Frost. This is a role which we last heard is to be played by Alice Eve and a character that is pretty surely to be a part, big or small, in FIRST CLASS. Although Bacon has also been rumored to play Mister Sinister so I guess we'll have to wait for official word on this, which I imagine we'll receive pretty soon with Comic-Con on the horizon.

But honestly...does it really matter what role Bacon is playing? Can't we agree that we're all just glad to have Hambone back?
