Say what you will about the cinematic juggernaut that was AVATAR, the team of director James Cameron and actor Sam Worthington has been the most profitable one-two punch in the history of filmmaking. And now, it looks as though the two may be getting back together for a brand new project.

THR is reporting that Fox is currently in talks with writer Will Staples to pen a new sci-fi film, MYTH, that would be a new gig for both Cameron and Worthington, as well as super-producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura. The one catch - it doesn’t appear as though Cameron or Worthington would be involved either behind or in front of the camera, but in producing roles instead. That is, at least at this stage.

No details regarding the film have been released yet, but with this quartet involved, it’s bound to be one of the hottest commodities around. Staples, as a writer, is best known for his work on the Call Of Duty game franchise, as well as films like the upcoming APACHES and WORLD’S MOST WANTED.

Overall, while it’s tough to get too excited for a film like this, where the most interesting people attached are simply producing the film, I do think it will be intriguing to see how Cameron and Worthington work together in that role. I love the idea of a new original sci-fi property getting put through the pipeline, so I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for this one.
