UPDATE: James Franco and Anne Hathaway to host The Oscars
Update: Deadline has just confirmed the duo will be hosting the Oscars!
When it comes to hosting the Academy Awards, picking the right host(s) is always a tough concept. With various failures in their history, when the show’s producers get it right (like last year, with Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin), it’s truly something special.
So, who will be hosting the show this year? Apparently Hugh Jackman has turned down the gig (he hosted the 2008 award show), but Deadline is now reporting that the show may again be hosted by a duo.

The outlet is reporting that James Franco and Anne Hathaway have apparently been offered the gig, and have allegedly accepted the offer. So, unless the two have to pull out for some reason, it appears that Hathaway and Franco may very well host the 2010 Academy Awards.
With both Hathaway and Franco holding high Oscar aspirations this year themselves, they could not only be names uttered as both hosts, but also nominees (although it appears as though Hathaway may have a tougher time than the seemingly front-running Franco). Personally, I like the choice, but it remains to be seen just how real this story is. Both are highly charismatic people, particularly Franco, with Hathaway a perfect addition to his team. Overall, while the choices don’t seem too inspired, they could be far worse. Hopefully this one comes to fruition.
