Amongst other names like Antoine Fuqua and WARRIOR helmer Gavin O’Connor, Fox has found the man that they believe will bring THE WOLVERINE back to life after director Darren Aronofsky left the project high and dry.

Deadline is reporting that the studio has offered the gig to WALK THE LINE and KNIGHT AND DAY director James Mangold, with the outlet going as far as to say that he will be signing on the dotted line for this hotly talked about project.

Now, while I’m not overly enthused by the news that Mangold will be taking over for Aronofsky, it does give me a bit of excitement. I think Mangold is a really gifted filmmaker (just look to 3:10 TO YUMA to prove that fact), so while the lack of Aronofsky in the director’s chair here is sad, Mangold is just about the next best thing.

The film is set to shoot later this fall with a script from Christopher McQuarrie, so while there were a few bumps in the road, it appears to be smooth sailing for this film from here on out.
