Green Lantern

GREEN LANTERN just got a bit classier.

Film Score Reporter (via The Playlist) has revealed that eight-time Oscar nominee James Newton Howard will be scoring Martin Campbell’s upcoming take on the ring-wearing hero.

While I may not be the composer’s biggest fan, his addition definitely adds a bit of depth to a film that desperately needed it. He isn’t the best tentpole composer on the planet (where is Hans Zimmer when you need him?), but at this point for a film that needed a blast of good news, I think it just got the shot in the arm it needed.

The film has garnered a massive amount of poor press after the silly-looking first trailer, and while the score may ultimately be a weak one, Howard does have an Oscar-worthy pedigree in both smaller features and tentpole projects, so hopefully this is more DARK KNIGHT than THE GREEN HORNET.
