Jamie Foxx confirms DJANGO UNCHAINED involvement
It’s about time. Following numerous weeks of “is he or isn’t he” chatter around the web, actor Jamie Foxx has let it be known just what kind of involvement he’ll be having with Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming film, DJANGO UNCHAINED.
In speaking with CNN, the actor confirmed that he’ll be starring as the titular character in UNCHAINED, and also confirmed that Leonardo DiCaprio and Samuel L. Jackson will be joining him (along with Christoph Waltz).
The film follows Django, a recently freed slave who trains with a German bounty hunter (Waltz), in order to take revenge on those who have wronged him and also hunt down his wife, Broomhilda.
Personally, I’m very struck by this casting. It goes without saying that Tarantino has a way with casting, but frankly, I don’t know how he’ll fit in this role. It’s a rough role to gauge just who would fit, but Foxx doesn’t fit that mold. However, that’s also what makes this so interesting. It’s unlike anything Foxx has done, so here’s to hoping he can make the most of it.
