The ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie is an allusive beast. It always seems like it’s coming and we get updates on it constantly but have yet to see it come to fruition. This could mean several things. First, it might not be coming out the way that Mitch Hurwitz was hoping it would. Second, it could be coming out so incredibly well and he wants to make sure it is perfect.

This most recent update, from Jason Bateman, suggests toward the second scenario. You can check what he had to say after the break.

“For the very first time, he sat me down last week to talk abut what he’s got and where he’s going and what do I think. As a fan of the show, I was vibrating with excitement that he was pulling me behind the curtain. So I can confirm what his update was, which was that he is very deep into the work on it and the odds of him getting it done before the end of the year, as he says he wants to, are good.”

He also talks a little bit about the plot, he claims “Yes. It’s…yes. It’s incredible. It’s everything you would want it to be and more.” He then goes on to talk about how he hopes it is finished soon so they can shoot it this year.

This is one of the bigger updates we’ve gotten on the film in a very long time. It sounds like there could be some major progress in getting the script completed. One thing I can say with certainty, no matter how long it takes to get the film made, I’ll be excited.
