One of the films out of Sundance that got more than its fair share of buzz was the Duplass Brothers’ CYRUS.

Well, according to THR, the duo are lining up the cast for their next film, JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME, and it is shaping up to be one heck of a cast.

The film, set to be produced under Jason Reitman’s Right of Way shingle, will follow the day in the life of two brothers, a loser (Segel) and one who is actually doing something with his life (Helms).  The film is also set to star Judy Greer, of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT fame, as Helms’ wife.

Previously called their take on a “quest” film, one of the brothers told MovieWeb (via The Playlist), that “It's like a 'Sword in the Stone' movie. But it's starring a stoner who is looking for wood glue. We are always going to mess with genre and use it to our favor... Jason Reitman is producing for us. We are shooting in the spring. This is the movie we were born to make. We are more than ready to jump into this one."

This is the Brothers’ next step in their takeover of the Hollywood scene, after coming out of the mumble-core movement, of which their films like BAGHEAD made quite the splash.  I am a huge fan of the duo, particularly their film THE PUFFY CHAIR, and I have not heard anything but great things from people who have seen CYRUS.  I’m a huge fan of Segel, and an even bigger fan of Ed Helms, who was one of the saving graces of last year’s THE HANGOVER, a film I don’t quite get the buzz behind.  Anything that these two put their names on, I’ll be interested in, so giving them a great cast, only heightens my interest in the film.

The buzz is a throwback to the dude genre of the 80s and 90s with movies like bachelor party, road trip old school.
they remind the mainstream audience that it's ok to be a guy and be totally messed up like you could be in the 30,40s 50s, and 60s before sexual harrssment came about andintellectual guys became the norm.
