Though the concept may sound cheesy (and by "may" I mean does) X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is developing quite an impressive cast for itself. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Aaron Johnson, Nicholas Hoult, and Alice Eve have all joined the ranks. The project has a nice balance of seasoned actors and growing thespians. Now, the project has two more names to add to the list.

Variety says Jennifer Lawrence (WINTER'S BONE) has signed for the role of Mystique and The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Kevin Bacon has officially signed on as "the villain" after rumors have swirled for quite a while.

I always enjoy when smaller actors make the crossover to larger projects. Most people would never get a chance to see Lawrence's talent, particularly her stunning performance in WINTER'S BONE. Not to mention Fassbender (besides INGLORIOUS BASTERDS) and Hoult, the latter of which hasn't been in much else besides ABOUT A BOY and A SINGLE MAN.

Bacon has been rumored to play the villain for quite some time now. Now, being officially signed to the film, we now have our villain. As of yet, this is the only the information we have as to Bacon's presence. Normally, in a project like this, I would speculate as to which character he will be playing. However, FIRST CLASS is not my area of expertise.

And helming all of this? Matthew Vaughn - a man who has more than proved himself in the action genre and is making his way up in the super-hero world. The project is picking up steam and I'm getting pretty stoked. Hopefully, more news will follow. Bacon's character name perhaps?
