Jennifer Lopez negotiating for two very different films
Upon leading the well-received biopic SELENA, a then-unknown Jennifer Lopez emerged as a triple threat of singing, dancing, and acting talent in the 1990s. She managed all three of those talents with ease, but a string of unsuccessful films – most notably GIGLI – caused her acting career to fall into obscurity.
Thanks to her stint as a judge on Fox’s American Idol, Lopez’s single “On the Floor” was released to massive chart success, so it’s no surprise that Hollywood is calling out to her once again.
Deadline Hollywood reveals that Lopez is currently negotiating to star in two features. One is Taylor Hackford’s PARKER, an action flick where she’ll star alongside action mainstay Jason Statham. The other is Kirk Jones’s WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU’RE EXPECTING, which derives from the childbirth preparation bestseller of the same name. Lopez will fill a supporting role alongside Glee’s Matthew Morrison and Cameron Diaz.
Lopez has certainly experienced her fair share of misfires in Hollywood, but you can count me as one who’s interested to see where both of these projects go – though PARKER definitely sounds more fascinating than EXPECTING. Despite what some might say, Lopez has acting chops to spare, and it’ll be wonderful to see her back in the acting game.
